Marine Corps Base Hawaii Kaneohe Bay Lodging and Information
The mission of Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe Bay is to support combat readiness for Marine Corps operations in the Pacific theater. The mission and name of the installation have changed over the years, from Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay to Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay to the current Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay History
Previously known as the Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, the installation is now called the Marine Corps Base Hawaii or simply MCBH K-Bay. It was established in 1918 and commissioned as Fort Kuwaaohe Army Military Reservation, later named Fort Hase. In 1939, the Navy began a small seaplane base, which later became Naval Air Station, Kaneohe. On December 7, 1941, Naval Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, minutes before Pearl Harbor. In 1994, the Marine Corps consolidated all Marine Corps installations in Hawaii under a single command known as Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Marine Corps Base Hawaii Lodging Inns of the Corps
The Inns of the Corps Hawaii offers short-term lodging for all travelers, whether for PCS, TDY, or leisure; however, it is a PCS Priority Facility.
MCBH is located on Oahu’s Windward side of the island on the Mokapu Peninsula. It is approximately 20 miles northeast of the Honolulu International Airport (HNL), which is about a 45-minute drive, depending on traffic.
