Baumholder Army Lodging – The Lagerhof Inn
The Army Lodging facility in Baumholder, Germany is located at the Lagerhof Inn which is comprised of three original three buildings that were constructed from 1932 – 1934. The Inn was originally used as a kurhotel by a private company prior to the onset of World War II. During the war years it was used by the German forces to house the military. After the war, during the early 1950’s, the US Military began using the Inn. A complete renovation took place in 1983, and in 1999 a new building was added. The Lagerhof Inn was awarded the Army Lodging Operation of the Year – Small Facility Category in 2019.

Baumholder has the largest concentration of U.S. Military Servicemembers outside the Continental United States (CONUS). During Wrld War II, Baumholder served as a military base for the Third Reich. The German government appropriated 29,158 acres of land and as a result, resettled 842 families from 14 villages to clear the land for military training and housing. The United States Army Garrison (USAG) Rheinland-Pfalz, Baumholder, also known as “the Rock” is the major tenant command.
