Fort Shafter Mission and History

Fort Shafter is the headquarters of the United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC), the Major Command (MACOM) of U.S. Army forces in Asia and the Pacific. It is also home to the Installation Management Command of the Pacific (IMCOM-P). Fort Shafter’s construction began in 1905, making it the oldest military base on Oahu. It is home to the famed Palm Circle, significant for its association with World War II history in Hawaii.
